BRUCE BUURSMA COMMUNICATIONS | WORDS WELL DONE
Bruce Buursma is an award-winning writer and communications expert who joined Qdesign as an Intellectual Partner in 2009.

Building on his far-ranging experiences as a globetrotting correspondent for the Chicago Tribune and other metro daily newspapers for more than 20 years, and a corporate communications leader at Herman Miller, Inc., for nearly a decade, Bruce offers a seasoned and sophisticated perspective on media and messaging, as well as brand identity. He has provided a wide range of communications consulting services both to large corporations and entrepreneurial startups. He helps clients amplify their voice in the marketplace with messages that are compelling and clear. During his formative years as a journalist, Bruce was honored as a Pulitzer Prize finalist in the specialized reporting category for the body of his work as a religion writer in 1987. Bruce lives near the Lake Michigan beach in the dunes of Grand Haven, Michigan, a setting that inspires elegant and artful writing – and countless photographs of the pier and lighthouse at the entry to the Grand River channel.

Bruce’s consultancy also features the web-enriched talents of the emerging generation of communicators. His son, Benjamin Buursma, is a writer and media consultant and a 2000 graduate of Calvin College, where he majored in Communication Arts and Sciences. Ben has worked as a journalist in South Carolina, and an account manager for a public relations firm in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Most recently, he served as the Officer of Communications for Western Michigan Christian High School in Muskegon, Michigan. His professional interests and capacities also include website construction and maintenance, graphic design and multimedia editing and production. Ben lives in Grand Haven, where he and his wife, Rebecca, are raising a growing young family.
